7 Things You Absolutely Must Do After An Engagement

Anyone in a flourishing relationship will tell you how much they want to tie the notch with their partner. However, it’s usually not because they want to be addressed as a Mr. or Mrs., but mostly because they love their partner so much that they want to spend the rest of their life with them.

Most people spend so much time and focus planning towards their engagement, that they invariably forget to make plans on what to do right after an engagement.

Luckily for you guys, we have compiled a list of the seven most important things to do right after an engagement.

Pick a date

This is the first thing on our list because whoever you tell about your proposal is most definitely going to follow with the question “So when’s the wedding?”. You don’t want to be that person who shifts uncomfortably as they say “We haven’t set a date yet”. Therefore, after the excitement of getting engaged has begun to abate, you need to pick a date that works for you and your partner, and most probably means something to you guys. It is advisable to pick a date at most 8 months from when you got engaged, no one wants to be called ‘Lady of the rings’.

Call your loved ones after an engagement

Spreading the news to your loved ones, is as good as spreading the news to your whole wedding guest list, this is because the people that love you will be so happy for you that they will sub-consciously take the burden off your hands by calling other people who matter to you to tell them the good news. This gives you an early start on working your guest list, because when people are aware of your wedding, they mentally prepare for it.

Get a manicure

Your partner just put a ring on it, everyone you tell is going to want to see that ring, and no one wants to show a beautiful ring with crusty nails. So set a date with a manicurist, it could even be a cool thing you do with your girls or with your partner, get your fingers ready to become mini celebrities.

Get your ring resized and insured

Chances are, your partner failed to insure the ring, or it doesn’t fit to perfection. If that baby is made of real diamonds, you need to get it insured immediately, we don’t pray for bad things to happen to us, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t work to protect ourselves if they happen.

Get yourself a planner, journal, anything that will inspire your creativity as you plan for your big day, this will be your best friend, reminder, companion for the next six to eight months, so we suggest getting something worthwhile.

Relax

Take a few days before you start any planning or engaging anyone to just kick your heels back and relax, the only other time you are going to be this relaxed will be on your honeymoon, so we suggest taking a weekend at a resort with your partner, no wedding talk, just enjoy each other as you bask in your love.

Why do I write? Writing has always been a part of me, at an early age, my dad would make me write him stories about what happened at school, or things that made me feel a certain way. I quickly stopped looking at it as a chore and instead as something that actually made me happy. I became a Content Creator because I want to be part of the community producing valuable and useful content.
