Why do we love Khanyi Ndhlomo? Well, first of all, this woman has made history as the first black newscaster for SABC1, South Africa’s national broadcaster.
This happened when she was just 20 years old and still a journalism student in university. Talk about luck!
Once she became a newscaster, people tagged her the media sweetheart of South Africa. Forbes quotes a source who said;
During Khanyi’s time at the station, the ratings of the 8 o’clock news hit record highs. And it was all because of the young girl with the cute, innocent face and the natural tan.
We love that Khanyi Ndhlomo is so passionate about her field in journalism that she has broken so many barriers in the field and set a lot of world records.
For example, At age 22, Khanyi was appointed the editor of Drum Magazine (one of South Africa’s oldest lifestyle magazines). She was also the manager of South Africa’s Tourism Board in Paris. She also finished her MBA from Havard business school.
We love that this woman is also a business woman. She is the founder of
Ndalo Media, and DestinyConnect.com, a website that serves as the online extension of Destiny’s publications.
Finally, asides all the amazing things this woman is doing and has done in the field of journalism, Ndhlomo also serves on different boards. She serves as a director of the Foschini retail group and on the advisory board of the University Of Stellenbosch Business School. Amazingly, in 2010, she was selected as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader.
