The 5 Looks That Inspired Us Last Week | The SMA Hit List Ep20

Very few Instagram posts are about anything other than showing off a hot picture or trendy look. So, when an IG post comes along and inspires us in a way we never thought possible, it sets our soul on fire and makes us think differently. Therefore, on today’s SMA hit list, we will be highlighting the 5 looks that inspired us last week.

5. Jennifer made our day with the little caption she added to this post on Saturday.

This post had to be on our list of looks that inspired us! Jennifer Oseh basically encouraged her supporters to go after their dream and keep trying. View her profile to read the caption.

I have worn glasses since I was in first grade—after I admittedly tricked the eye doctor into giving me big pink lucite glasses like my favorite aunt lol. From then on, I’ve been virtually blind (karma?). Once I hit my teen years I regretted that lie so much because I never felt “pretty” or “cool” in my glasses. I thought wearing glasses made me seem nerdy because the world makes girls feel like they get to be seen as either stylish or smart. (Which is BS. We get to be stylish and smart and all the things and what we wear doesn’t dictate who the hell we are!) It wasn’t until 2016 when I was the editor of Teen Vogue and found these gold Warby Parker aviators that I finally felt like ME in my glasses. (They are sunglasses that I converted into custom optical frames.) And I’ve virtually never taken them off since. So, when I released my book I called my friends over at @WarbyParker to see if they would gift a pair to some of my friends along with an early copy my book. Because what’s better than receiving glasses with a new book, right?! Well, the good news for y’all is: This fall, they are releasing my favorite frames as opticals for the first time and throwing in a donation to the Lower East Side Girls Club @girlsclubny. To all my glasses-wearing girls out there, go get you a pair! Full disclosure: this is NOT an ad. I’m just genuinely proud to be #wearingwarby! 🤓
